General: This casual Indonesia restaurant, Pho Republique, is a treat for those who want to taste the flavors of Southeast Asia. Decorated with Southeast Asian pieces, red walls, and a great relaxing setting, this “hip” ethnic restaurant is a must for small or large groups. Considered one of the hippest ethnic restaurant in Boston. Located at 1415 Washington Street in the South End. Telephone: 617-262-0005 www.pho-republique.com

She Said: ….big – pho-king bowls! After a long day of shopping, he and I wanted some spicy, warm, ethnic dishes, and Pho Republique was a great choice. When you walk in, you immediately feel like all the Zen-like, hip, budisht kind of people come here, although everyone there, besides the hostesses, really was not. Anyways, the setting was awesome. Southeast Asian decorations and shines are found everywhere and makes you feel relaxed. The hostesses are all sweet and very nice, so the atmosphere here is absolutally great. We ordered the tofu, edammame, and bok choy gyoza dumplings, which I loved. I was really craving a soup, so I ordered the Big Bowl of Delicious Pho with tofu and egg noodles. When they say “big bowl,” holy crap, they mean BIG BOWL! This dish is huge and can be shared with two or three people. However it is a very popular dish because it was on probably everyones table (on a sunday night… 6 tables, and people at the bar). I ate a good portion of it, of course, but now have some in my fridge for another nights dinner. I totally recommend coming here. I love the South End, the awesome Southeast Asian food, the atmosphere, and wicked cool hostesses. Great place to come with a few friends for a causal evening.

He Said: Really good food, spicy, tasty! Just really good food. I had a basil chicken plate, it is consider the spicy plate there, but being me I asked if they could kick the spice up a notch. Well they did and it was great and very spice, so if you can take the heat, I’d recommend it!!! I love everything. It’s red all around you even the napkins. This time we didn’t try it but one thing that I wanna do next time will be the scorpion bowl. Love this place. GO! is all I can say.
