She Said:I’ve been eyeing this restaurant for awhile now. I walked past it last year when I was shopping in Harvard Square, but it wasn’t until a year later that I finally ate at Small Plates. Like the name suggestion, the dishes are tapas style. For my drink I had the Chicha – a South American drink made with sweet blue corn, pineapple and cinnamon. We shared a cold hummus platter. I loved the artichoke hearts, but everything else was so-so. I also had the Japanese Eggplant. It too was good, but I wonder if I choose my second pick, the scallops if that would have been better. He had the Tilapia and Squid Ceviche and boy was that awesome! Sadly I have to say, and He too will mention, that we sat there for ten minutes and then had to ask for our waters. The service was very slow and not what I thought it would be, but the food was decent. I’m not sure if it is always like this, slow service that is, or if it was just because there was a large group today. Nonetheless, we could never get the waiters attention and everything was wicked slow.
He Said: I Know this area very well, and I have got to say that I have walk by this restaurant a million times and never paid much attention to it. After being a little undeceive about where to go to dinner, we finally set to go harvard sq bound. I was hungry and excited to finally find out what small plates was all about. So we sat down and 10 minutes pass with out even a glass of water. I could even get the attention of any of the waiters. On to the food, We order some humus plate that was pretty decent I think she totally enjoyed it and I did too. Then we share the scallop and squid ceviche – was fantastic. Could be the only reason if ever I go back. After ordering the petite mignon and being told that wasn’t available, I set for the fried tilapia. It was actually pretty sweet. Food in general wasn’t bad. The sangria drinks I had was good – actually the pomegranate sangria is small but excellent. At the end our waiter was apologetic for being slow and totally forgetful about us. We’ll let you decide by your self if you go to Small Plates. At the end, it was a nice evening for She and He.
PS- Do go to Small Plates and let us know how the service was. Maybe it was just a busy night.
