Gyms and trainers are not for everyone. Home DVD workouts seem to be increasing. But there is another way to enjoy your workout: Dancing

Not every one can afford the expensive gym, trainer, dvd, or gear. But everyone can dance – good or bad.

With a good set of tunes and your body stretched out, you can get fit by having your own dance party. I was lucky enough to participate in a few iconic and spectacular dance parties during the holidays (why didn’t we take photos).

Listen too….

LADY GAGA – the whole Fame Moster album. Pure goodness. To dance the weight off.

Also, No Doubt – I’m just a girl, Hella Good, Hey Baby
Paramore – some of their stuff
Check out remixes

also hit the Dance Dance Revolution or WII Fit

I certianly did not make a new years resolution. Why do people make one in the first place? No one really ever sticks with them. Here are a few ways you can change your life, even without stating a resolution.

We all know that incorporating exercise is vital. But how much? everyone says different, so I say 45 minutes of cardio 5/6 days of the week. Remember this can easily be done by taking a walk during lunch, walking to/from work, etc.

Eliminate stress! I know I’m guilty of this. I’m always stressed. So I’m trying to stay more calm. For women, stress can increase our waist line. So banish this stress by, yes, exercising, even try yoga or meditation. and definitely SMILE!

Aim to lose those holiday pounds. The pounds may have seemed to creep overnight, but they certainly won’t come off that fast. Make a goal of losing one pound a week. Be proative about what you eat and fit in some daily cardio (stairs, walking to work). For eating, prepare homemade meals with the kids. This may make you smile –> less stressed –> good for 2010

Sleep. Sleep is so good for you. For your health, weight, energy. Aim to get 8 hours of sleep a night and don’t have caffine after noon. Catching the zzz’s will help you perform better at work or school.

Put you first. Deal with yourself first. When you do, you’ll be able to better help the people around you.

and remember, don’t take your self too seriously. No one else does!

It is winter season! I love the snow, but hate that runny nose, stuffy head, sore throat feeling. So read up, and follow these simple tips to bash colds!

Eat These:
Whole Grains – Loaded with zinc which helps the whole immune system
Bananas – B6 helps fight infections
Cayenne Pepper – thins mucus, thus less congestion
Sweet Potatos – make white blood cells
Garlic – blocks enzymes that lead to infections

Other helpful notes:
Drink Tea!
Protein is good. Helps boost immune system
Family Favorite — Chicken noodle soup!
Yogurt – the bacteria in yogurt can also help your immune system
Sleep – Catching Zzz’s is good for overall health
Stay Hydrated! Very important. Stick to water, tea, and even sport drinks. Lay off the coffee, soda and alcohol.
Vitamin C is also key in staying healthy

December has finally arrived. Only one more month until 2010. If you’re like me, you only have 2 weeks until you got to rock it on the beach. Or you just have to keep healthy for the holidays.

This month we’ll alternate our days

One Day: 15 to 30 minute run. At least 30 minutes on the treadmill or outside intense cardio. Then hop on the bike for 30 minutes. Do it all – sprints, hills, runs. Have a jump rope? Add an extra 15 minutes of rope and jumping jacks to round out the routine.

Second Day: This day I like to stick to the treadmill. I pump out a run and then alternating sprints/walks. Then finish with a five minute cool down. total time 45 minutes. Then I’ll jump on the elliptical or another cardio machine for 15-20 minutes

I also suggest lifting weights for a minimum of 30 minutes every other day.

Think this is a lot to handle? It’s not — Once you hit 20 minutes, your body will want to continue to work.
