Try these vegetables! If you like a carrot, you may like the parsnip.
Like….
Carrot –> Parsnip. complex, sweet, nutty flavor.
Plums –> Figs. sweet and good source of potasium.
Lettuce –> Bokcoy. fights cancer
potatoes –> Sunchokes/jerusalem artichokes. boost iron
spinach –> swiss chard/ vitamins a and k.
….before it even comes! As the holiday’s approach, one can find themselves in stressful times. Follow these few steps and you may find yourself in a “zen” mode.
Follow these steps and hopefully you too can beat out the tough holiday stress and situations that you may face.
1) Drink Tea – The University College in London study showed those who drank black tea showed a drop in their cortisol levels, compared to those who did not.
2) Acupressure – massages and acupressure, as we know, make us feel good, and always take the stress away.
3) Go on, have a chocolate treat – dark chocolate, or cocoa has more stress busting compounds than milk chocolate.
4) Laugh yourself silly – check out youtube during the day. laughing decreases levels of the stress hormones.
4) Fatty acids – people who hate omega 3 fatty acids are usually happier, and less impulsive.
Pair these tips with yoga and you’re on your way to a stress free holiday season!
I found two ways that you, in Boston, can save at the gym.
Remember the YMCA? Not as cool as it once was, you may think. But think again! The YMCA is up to date and provides many of the classes that you enjoy like aerobics, yoga, etc. The YMCA in Boston offers gym membership based on income. This is definitely a way to save some money and still afford a gym membership.
The second is Town Sport International. They run a promotion called Train and Save. When you train with a trainer, you add up your workouts and can save money on your next package. So 15 sessions = 15% off your next package.
Go buy a jump rope! Kick it old school. This playground toy is a fat blasting activity! Jump roping for ten minutes can burn up to the same amount of calories as running an 8 minute mile. Plus, ropes are keep and small and can be taken anywhere!
With Halloween just around the corner, here are some 100 calorie candies for you to enjoy.
3 1/3 snack size twizzlers
5 original starburts
8 dots
13 pieces of candy corn (my favorite!)
28 milk chocolate M&Ms
60 Smarties
1.5 snack size peppermint patties
2 twix mini’s (another favorite)
3 milky way midnight minis
1 snickers fun bar
4 three musketers minis
4 tootsie rolls
Snack Smart!
In this post, I’m going to post some healthy tips.
Eating Right: Two foods that you should eat everyday are nuts and low fat yogurt. Nuts provide protein, healthy oils and fats, fiber and vitamin B. And yogurt is full of protein, vitamin D and C. These are great for a light snack!
Cool Idea Alert: Well I thought so! The gym is so gross. Machines are dirty and people’s sweat is flying everywhere. Athleteoutfitters.com sells SafeSide workout towels. One side says “face” and they other one says “gym.” now you know which side to wipe your face on.
Fact: obesity rates continued to increase in 23 states last year. NOT GOOD PEOPLE!
Stuck at Work: Sitting a desk all day cannot be fun. And it’s not fun for your waist line. It’s suggested that every 30 mins you should get up and move a little. When you sit for long periods of time, your metabolism starts to shut down. At lunch, go out for a walk, instead of calling for delivery. Mid afternoon, walk around the building. Also, the new thing is sitting on a swissball instead of a chair!
Wish I could tell you more little tips, but I am tired and need some sleep!
FACT: Sleep is good. Catching ZZZ’s helps knock off weight, and destress. Skip the night cap though.
